In 2016, through Divine intervention, Roger and Pamela Wald discovered their own Wonderland, in Mentone, Alabama. The area was genuinely perfect for them, but they realized they would need an income to make their dream a reality.
So they began to explore their options. With each visit, they met more of Mentone’s people and fell more in love with the area. They came to understand that Mentone “needed” nothing.
Undeterred, in 2018 they found what they were looking for: a quaint, recently remodeled home that would make the perfect gathering place! Just like that, dreams became plans, with Alice in Wonderland as their inspiration.
Through it all, this quote was ringing through their heads – “The secret, Alice, is to surround yourself with people who make you smile. It is then, and only then, that you’ll find Wonderland.”
Thus, The Hatter Café and Country Inn became the reality. It’s a place where people can come together for comforting food (with coffee or tea), and gather with friends, family, or coworkers while relaxing and enjoying each other’s company.
